Olivia Merlino snatches 2nd place in Girls Longboard at the ISF State Finals in Oceanside this weekend 4/25/2010.
Surfing against some of the states best surfers, and battling for waves in a back and forth fight to the finish. After getting a questionable third place finish in the semi-finals heat, Olivia did not lose hope and rallied back in the repacharge taking first to advance to the finals.
Once in the finals, Olivia (livers) went outside and took a chance on waiting rather than taking the small inside waves. Olivia managed to snag three huge outside set waves and rode them to her final 2nd place finish.
Olivia now an 8th grader at BAMS will be missed next year in the ISF BAMS league of surfers, but will be most likely joining the girls longboard division at San Clemente High School.
