As we pulled into the parking lot at the "Infamous Rincon" I said, "What was I thinking bringing only my shortboard?" I was glad to know that I wasn't the only one. Hmm? Stacy, not a good call on our part... Oh well...  The weather was overcast but the waves were S.B.F. (Small but fun). I believe a good majority of our team members were 1st timers in the challenge and ever surfing Rincon. The team consisted of 6 men and 6 women. Our fearless leader, Derek, rounded us up and off we went into the chilly water.
Unknown to all of us, the non-competitor has the right-of-way. What up with that??? While we were already out in the water and when one of our team members dropped in on a non-competitor, we were rudely informed of this rule... Keiko W.T.H???

Images of Rincon Challenge.

It appeared to be a big adjustment for everyone riding on the same wave. Sharing is caring but it's not an easy task when there's a possibility of you or your board getting hit. Watch out Susie???...
The guys managed to get the party started by 3 of them carving down the line and one of them hitting the lip with no error and or collisions. YEAH for the men!!! Though the main rule was to have as many surfers riding on the same wave, the women were doing a great job ripping it up solo on the waves... My guess is that women do not do well with sharing... Well at least when it came to surfiing at Rincon. Hehe...

All in all it was a great experience and for two of our female teammates unforgettable... On the drive up, they had lost 2 of their boards to the pavement. Their surf racks failed them terribly and damaged another vehicles car window. Can you imagine a longboard slamming into your windshield? I surely wouldn't want to experience that moment. Heidi was playing chicken with the cars and tried to retrieve her board. She was so close but DAMMIT, an SUV ran over it and well you can figure the rest of the story. Thanks to Bill Stewart for being compassionate and letting Heidi stop in his shop and borrow 2 boards... You ripped on the board Heidi...
